LIHP’s mission is to provide affordable housing opportunities to moderate-income first-time homebuyers. LIHP has
many new developments that are being built around Long Island. Some of these homes are built with grant assistance
to keep the prices below market value and are sold by lottery. Some homes are being built by private developers, who
set aside a certain number of homes in their new developments, for sale to qualified individuals.
LIHP conducts lotteries for the available homes. Some developments are open for applications on a first come first
served basis. If you would like to receive an application for a program or to be on the list to receive applications
when programs open, please call us at (631) 435-4710 or email us back with your name and address and we
will put you on our mailing list. You will automatically be sent an application each time a program opens.
LIHP administers two down-payment assistance grant programs. One is for Nassau County and the other for the
Township of Babylon. Both Down Payment Assistance programs open for applications each year. Call LIHP for
information on when these programs become available. Also, The Suffolk Community Development agency has a Suffolk
County Down Payment Assistance Program. If you would like more information for that program you need to call them

LIHP provides Mortgage Counseling. The counseling appointment consists of a one-on-one session with a counselor
to discuss mortgage products that may help you to buy a home, addresses budget concerns, savings options and more
information to educate you on the home-buying process. LIHP also hold classes for the First Home Club program. This
is a down payment matching program. It consists of 6 classes, one class a month for six months. If you would like
