The Nassau County HOME Down Payment Assistance Program will provide eligible first time homebuyers with up to $25,000 towards down payment/closing costs towards the purchase of an eligible new or existing single-family home, provided that the applicant is income eligible and meets all program requirements. The applicant must also be able to satisfy the mortgage lender's minimum down payment requirements and be able to secure a mortgage. Homeowners are required to reside in the home as their principle residence for a minimum of 10 years or HUD will require a full repayment of the HOME down payment assistance provided.

The Suffolk County Community Development Department has Down Payment Assistance available for first-time homebuyers purchasing a home in the Towns of East Hampton, Huntington, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Smithtown, Southampton and Southold. Grants can be used for down payment. This program does not fund closing costs.

The assistance provided will be up to $30,000 for eligible applicants to assist with the Down Payment towards the purchase of an owner-occupied, single family residence, condominiums, cooperative apartments (co-ops), newly constructed or already built. Applications are being accepted until March 31, 2024. Interested Applicants must reach out to Suffolk County Community Development Department by phone at 631-853-5705 or email at community.development@suffolkcountyny.gov . Applications can be submitted online using the application portal at www.scdownpayment.com . Applications may also be mailed or submitted in person to the below address:

The Town of Babylon HOME Down Payment Assistance Program will provide eligible first time homebuyers with up to $39,000 towards down payment/closing costs towards the purchase of an eligible new or existing single-family home, provided that the applicant is income eligible and meets all program requirements. Additional funding for down payment and rehabilitation may be available from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, if the applicant qualifies. The applicant must also be able to satisfy the mortgage lender's minimum down payment requirements and be able to secure a mortgage. Homeowners are required to reside in the home as their principle residence for a minimum of 10 years or HUD will require a full repayment of the HOME down payment assistance provided.

The Town of Brookhaven HOME Down Payment Assistance Program will provide eligible first time homebuyers with up to $39,000 towards down payment/closing costs towards the purchase of an eligible new or existing single-family home, provided that the applicant is income eligible and meets all program requirements. Additional funding for down payment and rehabilitation may be available from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, if the applicant qualifies. The applicant must also be able to satisfy the mortgage lender's minimum down payment requirements and be able to secure a mortgage. Homeowners are required to reside in the home as their principle residence for a minimum of 10 years or HUD will require a full repayment of the HOME down payment assistance provided.

Applications are being accepted on a first come first served basis until funding has been exhausted.

When completing an application by either method or online or by mail, you are required to provide the following documents that are listed under the "All Supporting Documentation Required..." section on the bottom of this page. There is a $75 application fee for this program.
