The Suffolk County HOME Consortium down payment assistance funds are essentially zero-interest deferred loans that are forgiven after 10 years. The assistance provided will be up to $30,000 for eligibile applicants to assist with the down payment toward the purchase of an owner occupied, single family residence. This program does not fund closing costs. The applicant will be required to sign a Note & Mortgage which is subordinate to the bank or lending institution that will be providing the primary mortgage.
